THE ARTIST/WRITER

庄心珍在南洋美专攻读绘画,考获西画文凭。1975年她出国留学,先后在英国伦敦及赫尔高等教育学院(1976年 – 1979年年),法国巴黎十七号版画室(1980年 – 1981年) ,美国新墨西哥州立大学(1981年 – 1983年)和美国爱荷华大学(1983年 – 1985年),主修版画艺术。

1986年回到新加坡。同时在南洋美专和拉萨尔艺术学院教导版画,素描,1988年,庄心珍带学生到欧洲学习,在一次交通事故中,头部受撞击,因而出现头晕的症状。回新加坡后诊断为脑脓肿。因病情急聚恶化动手术。庄心珍在生死线上捡回一条宝贵的生命,不幸的是她丧失了绝大部分视力。突来的转变让画家痛不欲生,经过一段时间的苦苦挣扎,在亲朋好友的安排下,她结交了一些盲人,了解他们的生活,这给她带来了勇气和希望。她接受拉萨尔艺术学院院长约瑟夫·麦克纳利的邀请,回到拉萨尔艺术学院教导版画至1997年。庄心珍继续从事艺术创作,除了版画,她也搞雕塑,装置艺术等其他艺术形式。庄心珍在国内外主办了三十多个单人画展,参加了上百个联合画展。获得了许多艺术,文学的奖章。她于2005年获颁新加坡文化奖。

Ms Chng Seok Tin makes prints, sculptures and mixed media works. Her artworks are commentaries on nature and man. She has participated in more than 100 group exhibitions in Singapore and overseas including Asia, Australia, China, USA and Europe and UK. In 2005, Seok Tin was honored with the Singapore’s Cultural Medallion and also became the first Singapore artist to exhibit at the United Nations HQ, New York.

In 1988, Chng lost her eyesight after near-death surgeries to remove brain abscess, but she beat all odds and continued to paint and produced many outstanding works.

As a Chinese writer, Seok Tin wrote for Singapore and Hong Kong dailies and magazines. She authored 13 collections of prose, travel writings, satires and art reviews. She was honored with a Chinese Literature Society award in 2007.

陈医生是一名训练有素富有爱心的医生,绘画是她的业余爱好,静标所得全额捐赠给轻安村慈善与教育志业体。

Dr Chan Yat Chun is living proof that it is never too late to indulge in, and perfect, one’s life passion. A full-time GP in private practice. Presently she paints in watercolour, charcoal graphites and pastel. Her subject matters are flowers, landscape and portraits.  

The two art pieces so generously donated by Dr Chan  are dedicated for the silent auction to take place at this year’s fund-raising event by Kampung Senang.

THE ARTIST

许宝狮,1962 年画毕业于南洋美术专科学校西洋画系。师承具有影响力的第一代新加坡画家钟四宾学习美术创作。

自从2001 年开始,许宝狮经常参加本地与海外各地的画展。连续四年,2004 年至2007 年以及2012 年,分别获得了新加坡艺术协会主办的绘画比赛抽象和具象绘画组的陈之初博士艺术奖。

许宝狮的作品已被南洋艺术学院,新加坡国立图书馆及马来西亚的槟城美术馆珍藏。

Peter Koh Poh Sye studied Western Painting at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, graduated in the year 1962. Fortunately, he was privileged to work under the tutelage of influential first generation Singapore artist Cheong Soo Pieng. During the year 2004 Koh lived and painted in New Zealand where he also enrolled in a specialized course in painting restoration which eventually gave   him a valuable grasp of the intricacies of the restoration process. He moved to Melbourne of Australia in 2005 and continued to paint and exhibit. His distinctive series of church studies marked this phase of his artistic development.

Koh has actively participated in art exhibitions locally and abroad since 2001. Koh had won the Dr. Tan Tsze Chor Art Awards for outstanding work of abstract and representational painting respectively for four successive years, 2004 to 2007 as well as another one for the year 2012. The DTTCAA is an annual art competition organized by the Singapore Art Society for all members the society to participate.

Koh’s paintings are in the art collections of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, the Singapore National Library and the Penang Art Museum of Malaysia.

THE ARTIST

松年长老,是一代艺僧,自号落拓头陀,又称“寒月斋”主人。擅长诗词歌赋、书画金石等。他的字沉雄跌宕,蕴涵气势,端庄隐逸,一气呵成;笔势长短,墨迹粗细均充满变化;连续流畅的笔意和风骨,足以让人品味,回肠荡气。其墨宝曾多次作为新加坡国礼,赠送给友好国家的政要,深受欣赏和珍藏。

The late Master Song Nian great achievements in calligraphy and painting were widely recognized and praised in Singapore. His calligraphy and paintings were regarded as National treasures with collections in the Singapore Museum.

In 1986, former Prime Minister of Singapore Mr Lee Kuan Yew, presented the creative work of The Late Master Song Nian as official gifts to the Emperor and Prime Minister of Japan.

The artworks of Master Song Nian encapsulated the essence of the Dharma and were equally treasured by former political leaders of China, Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin.

Apart from helping the devotees and propagating the Dharma, Master Song Nian was also a noble philanthropist.

He organized many calligraphy exhibitions to raise funds for the Buddhist and Non-Buddhist communities.

Ms Chng is now in hospice and her last wish is to donate her paintings to raise funds to help cancer patients and the physically disabled.

在安寧病房,癌未患者,视障艺术家,莊心珍女士的心願是为活在黑暗的角落的人点亮心灯。這幅画代表她内心深处的交响乐和対人生丰富多彩的感动。

THE ARTIST

画中描绘了群山围绕,河水缓缓流过的秀丽宁静渔村。 好一个与世无争的世外桃源。 正是忙碌的城市居民所想要的。早年毕业于圣尼各拉女校,国家初级学院和新加坡国立大学,获工程第一等荣誉学士学位和硕士学位。她自幼喜欢画画。 对中国水墨画和书法有浓厚兴趣。自退休以来,随新加坡著名画家吴秋来老师学习写意水墨画多年至今。曾参加新加坡多个书画展览。

Quiet fishing villages beside the winding river and hidden among rolling mountain peaks. Serene and scenic, a peaceful world. A world of difference from the bustling city life. A place where the busy city dwellers would love to be immersed in every now and then.

Mdm Loh studied in St. Nicholas Girls School and the National Junior College. She was awarded the Bachelor of Engineering (1st class honors) and a Master of Engineering from National University of Singapore.

From young Mdm. Loh has been interested in drawing. She particularly loves Chinese brush painting and calligraphy. Since her retirement she continues to pursue her passion under one of Singapore’s well known artists Mr. Goh Chew Lai. To date she has participated in several Chinese calligraphy and brush painting exhibitions in Singapore.
